In 2024/2025 I look forward to welcoming Mulki Shader and Li Manyu to the School of Law at City University of Hong Kong as my two new PhD students. They will be joining Yang Xinlei, who started his PhD under my supervision one year earlier, during the 2023/2024 academic year.
Mulki will be conducting research on transitional justice in the context of Indonesian land reform, whereas Manyu will be writing about gender's effects on sentencing in Chinese drug cases. Xinlei is currently researching the links between economic indicators and China's death penalty practice. Congratulations to Mulki and Manyu on your PhD admission, and to Xinlei, I look forward to seeing your recent hard work bear fruit!
